Job summary

Lehigh County Authority (LCA) is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician in Allentown, PA. You will perform field maintenance, troubleshoot pumps and electrical systems, monitor SCADA alarms, and operate heavy equipment to support water and wastewater infrastructure.

The role includes mentoring junior staff, maintaining records, and rotating on-call shifts. LCA offers competitive pay, benefits, and a stable, community-focused work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience performing maintenance, repair, operations, construction, utility, industrial, mechanical, electrical, or related technical work.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work Monday-Friday day shift schedule and rotating 24/7 standby service.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing pumps, motors, treatment equipment, electrical systems, controls, and related infrastructure.
• Monitoring and responding to SCADA system alarms.
• Operating equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, sewer cleaning equipment, leak detection equipment, line locating equipment, and other specialized utility tools.
• Performing maintenance and repairs at pumping stations, well stations, treatment facilities, hydrants, valves, and collection systems.
• Supporting sewer televising and inspection activities.
• Conducting field repairs, excavation work, and system maintenance projects.
• Performing fire flow testing, hydrant maintenance, and meter-related activities.
• Maintaining accurate records and completing work documentation.
• Assisting with training and mentoring less experienced team members.
• Participating in a rotating on‑call schedule to support emergency response activities.

What the Job Looks Like

As an Operations & Maintenance Technician, you'll perform a variety of field, maintenance, and operational work supporting LCA's water and wastewater systems. Responsibilities include:

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?

• Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience performing maintenance, repair, operations, construction, utility, industrial, mechanical, electrical, or related technical work.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday day shift schedule and rotating 24/7 standby service
• Preferred
  • Water, wastewater, utility, industrial maintenance, or related experience.
  • CDL Class A with tanker endorsement.
  • PA wastewater, distribution, or collection system certifications.
  • Experience working with pumps, motors, controls, SCADA systems, or industrial equipment.
