  • Experience with machinery repair and control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Start, stop, monitor plant equipment and log activities.
  • Measure and adjust operating parameters using monitoring equipment.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment safely.
  • Perform overhaul maintenance and system improvements.
  • Develop operating procedures and operator training materials.
  • Provide input to plant improvements for safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and plant procedures.
  • Prioritize daily tasks to complete projects.
  • Support O&M Technicians with troubleshooting and repair tasks.
  • Train employees in moderately complex areas.
  • Take responsibility for safety of operating equipment.

Location: Albuquerque, NM | Schedule: Full-Time, on-site

Overview

A power generation operator is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician to join its gas turbine plant team. This journey- to senior-level role is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment, and plays a key part in ensuring reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across the facility.

What you'll do
  • Start, stop, and monitor plant equipment, including reading gauges and meters and recording activities in operating logs
  • Use computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record, and adjust operating parameters
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform overhaul maintenance and system improvement tasks
  • Assist in developing operational procedures and operator training modules
  • Provide input on plant improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and plant procedures
  • Prioritize daily activities to complete assigned tasks and projects
  • Perform semi-routine technical services and support duties with some latitude in decision-making
  • Assist in orienting and training employees in moderately complex areas
  • Support shift-qualified O&M Technicians with routine operations, troubleshooting, and repair tasks
  • Take responsibility for all safety aspects of operating equipment
  • Conduct safety presentations
  • Complete all O&M Tech I training requirements within 24 months
  • Support job responsibilities outside scheduled hours as needed
  • Travel occasionally as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required qualifications
  • High School Diploma, related military service, or equivalent
  • Journey-level: generally 5 years of directly related experience, including understanding of environmental and safety regulations and prior experience as a plant operator
  • Senior level: generally 10+ years of directly related experience, including understanding of environmental and safety regulations and prior experience as a senior-level plant operator
  • Experience working with and around hazardous chemicals and waste materials
  • Previous experience using testing equipment and calibration appliances
  • Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Basic computer knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with individuals across the company and outside vendors
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with acceptable MVR history, if applicable
Preferred qualifications
  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college, trade school certification, or advanced education in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation
  • Experience in CEMS maintenance and associated data acquisition handling systems (DAHS)
