Job summary

Twenty80 LLC is seeking a Senior Operations & Maintenance Technician to support the operation and maintenance of a gas turbine power plant. This role includes safe startup/shutdown, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of plant equipment to ensure reliable, efficient, and compliant facility operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power generation operations, preferably with gas turbine technology. Military gas turbine experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical school, vocational training, military technical training, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of operations and maintenance experience in power generation or industrial utility.
  • Experience operating gas turbine power plants.
  • Strong understanding of power plant operations, maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Experience with hazardous energy systems, industrial chemicals, and plant safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and operating procedures.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CMMS.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Start up and operate gas turbine power plant equipment.
  • Monitor plant performance using control systems and meters.
  • Record operating data and maintain logs.
  • Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions.
  • Communicate conditions and status to team.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment to maximize reliability.
  • Maintain water treatment systems and monitoring as applicable.
  • Follow safety policies and regulatory standards.
  • LOTO and hazardous energy control procedures.

Job description

Role Summary

Our client, a leading power generation company, is seeking a Senior Operations & Maintenance Technician to support the operation and maintenance of a gas turbine power plant. This position is responsible for the safe startup, shutdown, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of plant equipment while ensuring reliable, efficient, and compliant facility operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power generation operations, preferably with gas turbine technology. Military gas turbine experience is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations
  • Perform startup, shutdown, monitoring, and operation of power plant equipment and auxiliary systems
  • Monitor plant performance using control systems, gauges, meters, and computerized monitoring equipment
  • Record operating data and maintain accurate operational logs and reports
  • Operate plant systems during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions
  • Interpret control room alarms and respond appropriately to operational events
  • Communicate plant operating conditions and equipment status to team members and stakeholders
  • Participate in qualification programs to demonstrate competency in safe plant operations
Maintenance
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment to maximize reliability and availability
  • Perform equipment overhauls and support system improvement projects
  • Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and operational improvements
  • Operate plant support equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and other mobile equipment as required
  • Perform routine maintenance of facility buildings and grounds
Water Treatment & Plant Support
  • Perform chemical testing and analysis of plant water systems
  • Operate and maintain water treatment systems, including reverse osmosis and demineralization equipment
  • Monitor water quality and ensure compliance with operational requirements
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all plant safety policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry reliability and regulatory standards
  • Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hazardous energy control procedures
  • Communicate with grid operations and system operators using established operating protocols
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications

  • Experience with combined-cycle or simple-cycle power generation facilities
  • Experience using industrial testing and calibration equipment
  • Experience with plant maintenance software and asset management systems
  • Previous leadership or senior operator experience
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced personnel
