What You Will Be Doing
As an Operations & Maintenance Technical Data Author at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, you will play a critical role in supporting the sustainment of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter by developing and maintaining high-quality technical publications. In this role, you’ll transform complex engineering data into clear, user-focused maintenance instructions used by military personnel around the world. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll ensure that technical documentation accurately reflects current aircraft configurations and supports the operational readiness of the fleet. This is an opportunity to combine your technical aptitude with a passion for precision, contributing directly to the success of one of the most advanced aircraft programs in the world.

Key Responsibilities
-Develop, write, and maintain Operations & Maintenance (O&M) interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs) for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

- Interpret and incorporate engineering data, supplier documents, and customer requirements into clear, concise technical instructions.

- Utilize Lockheed Martin’s XML-based authoring tools and content management systems to produce and revise technical publications.

- Ensure documentation aligns with engineering configurations, safety standards, and contractual requirements.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, logistics, and customer support, to gather and validate technical data.

- Conduct validation and verification (V&V) of technical content to ensure accuracy, usability, and compliance.

- Review and analyze feedback from field users and stakeholders to implement technical publication updates and improvements.

- Maintain version control and track changes throughout the document development lifecycle.

- Stay up to date on F-35 aircraft system changes to ensure documentation remains current and relevant.

Desired skills

- Technical writing experience
-Aircraft maintenance experience in one or more of the following fields: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, landing gear, structures, canopy, propulsion, general aircraft servicing and inspection (non-avionics focus), with experience in removal, installation, and inspection of aircraft components
- F-35 maintenance experience
- Familiarity / direct experience with S1000D standards and using SGML/XML, SGML/XML Authoring
- Experience with removal, installation, and inspection of aircraft components
- Experience with flight inspection, hydraulics, and landing gear systems.
Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- F-35 Engineering and Logistics systems experience (JDL - JSF Data Library, PDM - Product Data Manager, ATLAS - Advanced Technical Logistics Applications System, VAS - Visual Augmentation System)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues, provide concise explanations, and collaborate effectively across teams.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $52,300 - $92,230. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
