Position Overview

ATI is seeking an Operations Leader to lead two connected functions within our Cudahy Forged Products operation: dimensional/in-process inspection and internal material handling. This hands‑on leader will help ensure forgings meet requirements before moving downstream while keeping material flowing throughout the plant.

The role is a hand‑on leader, and requires a visible plant‑floor presence, strong prioritization, and sound technical judgment.

Key Responsibilities

Dimensional & In-Process Inspection

• Lead inspection of forgings during the manufacturing process and supports decisions for downstream processing or rework.
• Ensure inspectors have the resources needed to inspect parts in the forging operation and after parts cool.
• Use and support dimensional/metrology tools such as calipers, height gauges, CMMs, and laser/3D scanning.
• Review drawings and requirements, select appropriate inspection methods, and communicate issues supporting corrective action.

Internal Material Handling

• Lead internal trucking/material handling that moves forgings and other material throughout the plant.
• Coordinate inbound/outbound lanes, respond to production requests, and prioritize hot or time‑sensitive moves.
• Monitor multiple plant areas, allocate manpower, and maintain uninterrupted material flow.

People, Safety & Performance

• Lead, coach, and train hourly employees while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance.
• Manage required safety activities, including crane and mobile‑equipment inspections, and support applicable union contract requirements.
• Lead continuous improvement and problem solving to improve safety, quality, flow, productivity, and internal customer service.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Monday-Friday salaried leadership role, generally 6:30 AM-3:30 PM.
• Highly mobile position; approximately 60% plant‑floor activity and 40% office/administrative work.
• Onsite role requiring frequent walking throughout a large manufacturing facility.
• Because internal trucking supports multiple shifts, occasional weekend or off‑shift calls may be required.

Basic Requirements

• Associate degree or higher in a technical or related field; relevant areas may include inspection, metrology, machining, CAD/computer‑aided drafting, or a comparable discipline.
• 3+ years of general supervisory experience, with knowledge of applicable labor contract provisions and accident prevention fundamentals.

Preferred

• Prior machining or prior dimensional inspection methods, techniques, equipment, with blueprint reading capabilities in a manufacturing environment.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent organization and ability to multi‑task and prioritize competing demands.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical judgment related to dimensional inspection and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to lead effectively on the plant floor and make sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
