Position Overview

As a Solutions Leader on Duty, you’ll ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center to meet the needs of the guest and their pet/s. You’ll work to ensure all partners are providing each guest with the best experience possible by helping them find and purchase animals, supplies, and services. You’ll work the cash register and ensure that our merchandise is properly stocked and priced, as well as assist in leading aspects of the Pet Care Center’s business in accordance with Petco operational standards and safety procedures. You can excel in this role by exhibiting a passion for the welfare, health, and proper care of animals as well as being a positive partner within the whole Pet Care Center team.

Position Responsibilities
  • Be a role model within our selling model and support guest interactions as needed.
  • Have a strong interest in animal welfare.
  • Complete and apply training programs to maintain a high level of expertise in their role.
  • Coach partners around guest-centric programs such as nutrition standards, companion animal sales, seasonal promotions, and services to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Process register transactions in a way that creates a great experience for each guest.
  • Support the overall Omni Guest Experience for the Pet Care Center through execution as well as training and coaching partners to include: BOPUS, Loyalty Programs, Ship-from-store, and Endless Aisle.
  • Function as Leader on Duty supporting Pet Care Center execution, training, communication, and maintenance of company initiatives, pet care, legal compliance, policies, procedures, safety practices, and promotions.
  • Support ongoing replenishment and brand standards in partnership with the operations team within the Pet Care Center.
  • Promote a positive leadership culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
Other Essential Duties
  • Utilize selling behaviors to provide an amazing guest experience within our Pet Care Locations.
  • Contribute to a safe environment by maintaining safety protocols.
  • Be a part of a collaborative culture centered around solving for the health and wellness needs of pets.
  • Engage in your career through developmental programs for continued growth.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or work experience.
  • Proficiency in mathematics and above-average communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, with a genuine interest in animals and their care.
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills for interactions with the public, partners, and leaders.
Education/Skills

High school diploma or GED, proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting, and exceptional communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibility
  • Ensure partners provide quick, courteous service.
  • Maintain high merchandising standards.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures per SFS protocols.
  • Ensure proper attendance processes in partnership with leaders.
  • Adhere to safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets.
Work Environment

Mostly indoors, with some outdoor activities such as customer carryouts and veterinarian visits. Must be able to bend, kneel, move merchandise (up to 50 pounds), and stand for long periods. Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
