Job summary

ofi North America (Olam Food Ingredients) in Las Cruces, NM, seeks a General Laborer for onsite production. You will assist with spice production, packaging, and line operations in a fast-paced environment.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the General Laborer will work in a fast-paced production environment. Must be able to work in a variety of areas and departments as needed.

What You’ll Do - Position Responsibilities

• Assist with the production, packaging, and processing of spice products according to established procedures and production schedules.
• Operate, monitor, and support production line equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Load raw materials into production equipment and remove finished products from the line.
• Perform product inspections to ensure quality standards, product specifications, and customer requirements are met.
• Accurately label, package, palletize, and prepare finished goods for storage or shipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, and sanitation requirements.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions, product defects, safety concerns, or quality issues to supervisors.
• Assist with changeovers, line setup, and basic equipment cleaning between production runs.
• Support inventory and material handling activities, including moving ingredients, packaging supplies, and finished goods.
• Complete required production, quality, and safety documentation accurately and timely.
• Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, quality personnel, and maintenance staff to meet production goals.
• Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.

Experience You’ll Bring – Role Requirements

• Must be able to work weekends
• Ability to read and complete all paperwork associated with the hiring process, safety procedures and job duties
• Attention to detail and instruction provided on the job
• Work in a team setting and coordinate with team members daily
• Will be required to demonstrate good verbal communication with supervisors
• Ability to learn how to operate equipment such as map sealer, moisture, equipment, etc.
• Able to follow directions and perform other tasks as requested
• Ability to function in a constantly changing environment with a variety of tasks
• Routinely lifting and stacking 55+/- pound bags and boxes
• Standing and working for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors/indoors, in hot/cold, noisy, and dusty environments
• Onsite / Shift Requirements: This role is a fully onsite position where employees are expected to be at the worksite for their specific work schedule. Candidates must be able to work the assigned shift schedule, including flexibility to support business needs which may involve rotating schedules, evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime as required.

The pay for this role ranges from $15.35-$16.17 per hour and is based on position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
