Job Description

Lead person in the loading and unloading of freight in a timely manner utilizing the appropriate motorized and manual equipment and by hand as needed. Maximize workers' efficiency through communication and training to promote RMDS profitability.

Responsibilities
  1. Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends due to varying freight volumes.
  2. Efficiently sort, handle, load, and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack, forklift, and by hand as needed.
  3. Utilize mobile hand-held devices for tracking shipments.
  4. Safely climb in and out of trailers.
  5. Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights (up to 50 lbs frequently and greater than 75 lbs occasionally).
  6. Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g., pallets, straps, ropes).
  7. Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that may be not climate-controlled and could be slippery.
  8. Perform physical tasks such as reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling as necessary.
  9. Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
  10. Handle hazardous materials following safety protocols.
  11. Adhere to company safety policies.
  12. Maintain prompt, daily attendance at the assigned work location.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum of one year dock/warehouse lead experience in the transportation industry.
  2. Prior forklift experience in a freight/less-than-truckload environment preferred.
  3. Experience loading and unloading trailers preferred.
  4. At least 18 years of age.
  5. Highly motivated with attention to detail.
  6. Ability to perform basic math and counting, with or without a calculator.
  7. Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Physical ability to bend, twist, squat, push, and pull freight throughout the shift.
  9. Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
  10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  11. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
  12. Pass a company-paid post-offer pre-hire screening (including physical essential functions) test.
  13. Starting hourly rate of $21.75, with pay progression opportunities within 12 months based on performance and experience.
