CornerStone Professional Placement partners with an established oil and gas organization to hire an Operations Geologist. This role supports horizontal drilling through real-time geosteering, geological interpretation and well planning in Columbus, OH.

We’re seeking someone with recent hands-on steering experience who can interpret changing conditions and communicate clear recommendations to drilling teams. The initial assignment is 12 months, with potential to convert to permanent employment.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics or Engineering.
• ≥2 years of horizontal-well geosteering experience.
• Strong MWD/LWD interpretation and real-time adjustments.

Responsabilidades

• Monitor multiple active wells and report issues promptly.
• Assist well planning using structure grids, seismic data, and offsets.
• Maintain interpretations, steering records, and daily updates.

$65–$80 per hour | 12-month contract-to-hire

CornerStone Professional Placement is partnering with an established oil and gas organization to hire an Operations Geologist. This role supports horizontal drilling through real-time geosteering, geological interpretation and well planning.

We’re looking for someone with recent, hands‑on steering experience who can interpret changing conditions and communicate clear recommendations to drilling teams.

Responsibilities

• Geosteer horizontal wells and recommend adjustments to keep wellbores within target formations.
• Interpret MWD/LWD data, formation changes and structural dip during drilling.
• Monitor multiple active wells and communicate developing issues promptly.
• Support well planning using structure grids, seismic interpretation and offset‑well information.
• Maintain geological interpretations, steering records and daily operational updates.
• Collaborate with geologists, drilling engineers and directional drillers on well placement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics or Engineering.
• At least two years of horizontal‑well geosteering experience, including recent hands‑on work.
• Strong understanding of MWD/LWD interpretation and real‑time drilling‑target adjustments.
• Experience monitoring multiple wells and supporting well planning.
• Clear communication and sound technical judgment during active drilling operations.
• Working proficiency with StarSteer and Petra.

Unconventional onshore experience is preferred. Appalachian Basin or Utica experience is a plus; relevant experience in other basins is welcome. Mudlogging and structure‑mapping experience are also valuable.

Schedule and employment

The initial assignment is 12 months, with potential to convert to permanent employment. Conversion is not guaranteed. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to Columbus.
