Job summary

Michels Corporation is seeking an Accounting Supervisor in Houston to oversee a finance team and ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. You will lead the preparation of financial statements, manage reconciliations, and drive process improvements while coordinating inter-company activity and banking reports.

The role calls for a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 5–7 years of accounting experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, 5-7 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required, supporting finance activities

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise members of the team. Interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback.
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and reports.
  • Lead the monthly closing and consolidation process, account reconciliations, and related analysis and reporting.
  • Coordinate the daily and weekly reporting and recording of banking activity.
  • Coordinate the reconciliation and reporting of inter-company activity with related companies.
  • Submit year-end audit data and assist on ad hoc analyses.

An Operations Financial Supervisor is responsible for supporting the system transaction support center. Responsibilities include managing a team of employees, reporting out on monthly metrics and actively seek opportunities to improve business processes. Critical for success are a high attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to provide and maintain organization and direction.

Responsibilities:



  • Directly supervise members of the team. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and providing feedback.

  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and reports.

  • Lead the monthly closing and consolidation process, account reconciliations, and related analysis and reporting. Oversee, prepare, and review general ledger entries and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.

  • Actively participate on special projects: identify and recommend best practices.

  • Coordinate the daily and weekly reporting and recording of banking activity.

  • Coordinate the reconciliation and reporting of inter-company activity with related companies.

  • Coordinate the gathering of and submission of data related to the yearend audit.

  • Perform ad hoc projects and analyses.

  • Provide resources and information to meet operational needs. Maintain open communication with divisional and departmental leads to ensure coordination of accounting needs..
    Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, 5-7 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Certified Public Accountant (preferred)

  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team
