Job summary

MPI is seeking a senior manufacturing engineering leader for a fast-growing healthcare manufacturer in Charleston, SC. You will oversee engineering support across a complex production environment, driving reliability, productivity, and quality improvements while leading a diverse team of engineers and technicians.

Ideal candidates bring a Mechanical Engineering degree, 7–10 years in regulated manufacturing, and hands-on experience with SolidWorks/AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7–10 years of operations or manufacturing engineering experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in equipment design, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD layout development.
  • Experience with plant expansion, high-speed equipment, or automation preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor engineers.
  • Skilled in developing PFMEAs, timelines, and risk-based project decisions.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineering technicians, controls specialists, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Provide daily support to production operations and lead troubleshooting efforts for critical technical issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, yield enhancement, and cost reduction.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Support capital projects, equipment acquisitions, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing (SAT).
  • Oversee equipment qualification, requalification, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Review and approve technical procedures, work instructions, and operational change documentation.
  • Support investigations, CAPAs, and root cause analysis activities.
  • Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Provide regular project and operational status updates to leadership.
