MnDOT seeks an experienced Civil Engineer to lead Maintenance and Construction Operations across multiple areas, providing strategic direction and accountable leadership for resources and outcomes.
As a member of the Operations Management Group (OMG) and Construction Management Group (CMG), you will mentor staff, coordinate with sections, and drive innovative solutions while upholding MnDOT policies and performance standards.
This position will manage and provide engineering leadership to Maintenance and Construction Operations in the following areas: 1) Snow and Ice Removal Operations, 2) Pavement Repair, 3) Drainage Maintenance, 4) Traffic Safety Device Maintenance, 5) Landscape/Roadside Maintenance, 6) Equipment Coordination, 7) Utilization, Purchasing and Maintenance, 8) Traffic Maintenance Services, 9) Roadway Regulations, Facilities Maintenance, 10) Contract Construction Administration, and 11) Preservation and Reconditioning Project Contract Preparation. The position has full managerial authority and accountability for human and fiscal resources and other resources needed to deliver these aspects of the operations program area in a manner that addresses customer needs.
As a member of the Operations Management Group (OMG) and Construction Management Group (CMG), this position will provide leadership, management, and direction to State and District Maintenance and Construction Sections so that programs can be accomplished and constituent needs met.

Considerable leadership skills and experience to successfully lead and manage agency initiatives, develop, and implement innovative solutions to complex issues, and lead and motivate others who do not report directly in developing and completing projects/programs.
Strong fiscal management experience with large, complex budgets including allocating resources.
Extensive knowledge of engineering principles in an engineering organization, Minnesota’s construction industry, current transportation industry technology, and MnDOT’s organization, policies, and programs.
Excellent oral and written skills to successfully interact and create strong relations with management, external stakeholders, and MnDOT staff and a high level of negotiation and conflict management skills.
