Job summary

Kairos Power is hiring an Operations Engineer to own process systems from design through startup and routine operation. You will work with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Process Safety to translate requirements into practical operating limits, procedures, and field practices.

The role emphasizes safety, performance, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to lead process improvements and support startup and commissioning activities in a nuclear energy setting.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Nuclear, or related engineering field.
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in chemical processing, power, manufacturing, or nuclear environments.
• Experience applying engineering fundamentals to process systems, equipment performance, troubleshooting, or plant improvements.
• Experience reading P&IDs, equipment data sheets, calculations, control narratives, and vendor information.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical information to engineering and operations.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial plant environment.
• Experience with Process Safety Management, hazard analyses, or pre-startup safety reviews (preferred).
• Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic analysis tools (e.g., AFT Fathom/Arrow) (preferred).
• Experience leading technical improvements or root-cause investigations (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner for assigned process systems from design through commissioning and operation.
• Maintain engineering basis for system design, limits, performance, and safety.
• Review designs and field changes for safety, operability, and design intent.
• Perform hydraulic, pneumatic calculations to define equipment limits using Fathom/Arrow.
• Analyze plant data, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues.
• Develop engineered improvements for safety, reliability, throughput, and cost.
• Support materials specs, vendor selection, and first-fill planning.
• Develop or review startup, testing, and acceptance plans.
