Overview

The Associate Broadcast & IT Support Engineer provides hands‑on technical support in a fast‑paced, 24/7 field production and newsgathering environment. This role requires strong IT troubleshooting skills combined with broadcast/electronics experience. This position supports both field operations and in‑house systems, requiring flexibility, travel, and the ability to adapt quickly in live production environments.

Key Responsibilities
Field & Broadcast Support
  • Operate satellite trucks and portable transmission equipment, including:
    • Satellite, microwave, and streaming transmission equipment
    • Multi‑path transmission (IP/Video/Audio) from remote locations
  • Support deployment, setup, operation, and breakdown of field broadcast systems
  • Work with production equipment such as:
    • Cameras, encoders, routers, RF systems, MIMO, COFDM, bonded cellular
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide 24/7 technical support for broadcast and IT systems
  • Install, maintain, and repair:
    • Streaming, audio/video, and remote production systems
  • Support both field locations and internal environments
  • Coordinate installations with vendors and production teams
Documentation & Operations
  • Maintain system documentation including:
    • Quality standards
    • Operational procedures
    • System anomalies
  • Utilize tools such as:
    • AutoCAD (system documentation)
    • ITSM tools (incident tracking and requests)
  • Manage inventory for equipment and technical supplies
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in:
    • Broadcast technology, IT support, or multimedia production
  • Experience troubleshooting:
    • Broadcast equipment and computer systems (board-level or component-level preferred)
  • Ability to work under pressure in live production environments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self‑starter with strong problem‑solving ability
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to broadcast or media technology environments
  • Familiarity with:
    • Broadcast systems (Sony, Harmonic, Evertz, or similar)
  • Basic programming knowledge (HTML, scripting, C++, etc.)
  • Familiarity with:
    • AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office
    • IT Service Management (ITSM) tools
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities
Technical Skills
  • Understanding of:
    • Server environments
    • Networking fundamentals
    • Operating systems (Windows, Unix, etc.)
Education & Certifications
  • 2- or 4-year degree in:
    • Electronics, computer engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant certifications a plus (e.g., Cisco, broadcast systems)
  • Must obtain CDL Class B License (facilitated by client)
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to:
    • Lift 50+ lbs
    • Work flexible hours in a 24/7 production environment
    • Travel on short notice (domestic and occasional international)
  • Must be able to pass U.S. government security clearance checks
