Qualifications

• Competent in test theory and test methodologies; knowledge of software safety and CS fundamentals.
• Knowledge of software development, software design, testing methodologies, and computer science fundamentals.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate failures and coordinate corrective actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting technical information to management and technical audiences.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Operations Engineer to support the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Deep Space Network (DSN) program in Monrovia, California. In this role you would be responsible for the lifecycle management of software components used for Data Processing within the Deep Space Network. The position requires a strong foundation in software engineering and test engineering, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across development, engineering, operations, and customer organizations. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, understand customer and mission requirements and have a desire to grow their career with Amatriot and the DSN program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the lifecycle management of software components used for Data Processing within the Deep Space Network (DSN).


• Performs system performance analysis, test & acceptance against design specifications, develops reports and briefings related to software, or hardware engineering projects.


• Provides timely fixes and analysis of the health of the subsystem immediately after any encountered failures.


• Write procedures to instruct complex system administrators to update and configure the subsystem.


• Provide PowerPoint presentations to upper management regarding the status and health of the DSN subsystem(s).


• Develop strategies to streamline the process of file deliveries to increase efficiency and reduce confusion within the subsystem(s).


• Conduct acceptance testing and generate effective test reports.


• Participate in DSN design and readiness reviews where in regards to technical procedures for the installation, test and operation of subsystem software components.


• Determine test resource requirements and schedule tests to meet project deadlines.


• Identify and categorize Software Anomalies and work with the CDE toward resolution.


• Serve as a liaison between station personnel and DSN Development and Operations Services Office for the resolution of operational problems, failures and discrepancies.


• Monitor, measure and analyze assigned subsystem functions and performance, providing real-time technical support for critical and high-profile DSN activities and events.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical field.


• Competent in test theory, test methodologies, software safety, and fundamentals of computer science and software design


• Knowledge of software development, software design, testing methodologies, and computer science fundamentals.


• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate failures, identify anomalies, and coordinate corrective actions.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to management and technical audiences.


• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting project and operational deadlines.


• Ability to understand customer expectations, mission requirements, system impacts, and the broader operational picture.


• Demonstrated potential to grow into a technical or organizational leadership role.


• Ability to work extended hours and participate in occasional on-call support when operational requirements dictate.


• Ability to travel occasionally for onsite testing, training, troubleshooting, and cross-training.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep Space Network (DSN) experience.


• Experience supporting mission-critical aerospace, satellite, telecommunications, ground systems, or other highly reliable operational environments.


• Experience supporting technical reviews, readiness activities, or formal verification and validation.


• Experience developing or improving technical procedures and operational processes.
