Job summary

The Amatriot Group seeks an Operations Engineer to support the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory DSN program in Monrovia, CA. You will manage software components used for Data Processing, working across development, operations, and customer teams to meet project goals.

The role requires a solid foundation in software/test engineering, excellent analytical and communication skills, and willingness to grow within the DSN program. Local travel and occasional on-call work may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Competent in test theory, test methodologies, software safety, and fundamentals of computer science and software design
• Knowledge of software development, software design, testing methodologies, and computer science fundamentals
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate failures, identify anomalies, and coordinate corrective actions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to management and technical audiences
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting project and operational deadlines
• Ability to understand customer expectations, mission requirements, system impacts, and the broader operational picture
• Demonstrated potential to grow into a technical or organizational leadership role
• Ability to work extended hours and participate in occasional on-call support when operational requirements dictate
• Ability to travel occasionally for onsite testing, training, troubleshooting, and cross-training

Responsibilities

• Lifecycle management of software components used for Data Processing within the DSN.
• System performance analysis, test & acceptance against design specs and reporting.
• Provide timely fixes and analysis of subsystem health after failures.
• Write procedures for complex system administration tasks.
• Provide management with status and health updates of DSN subsystems.
• Develop strategies to streamline file deliveries to DSN subsystems.
• Conduct acceptance testing and generate test reports.
• Participate in DSN design and readiness reviews for installation and operation of subsystem software.
• Determine test resource requirements and schedule tests to meet deadlines.
• Identify and categorize software anomalies and coordinate resolution.
• Serve as liaison between station personnel and DSN Development and Ops Services Office.
• Monitor, measure, and analyze subsystem performance; provide real-time support for DSN activities.
