Job summary

Middlebury College in Vermont is seeking an Operations Driver to support waste and recycling operations and snow removal. This full-time, hourly role provides driving services and equipment handling while assisting other Operations teams as needed.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, pre/post trip inspections, container setup, and contributing to event setup and grounds maintenance. A valid license and at least 2 years driving experience are required; ability to obtain a College license

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Must have valid driver’s license and a minimum of 2 years driving experience.
• Ability to obtain a Middlebury College license and maintain a good driving record.
• Experience operating heavy equipment (bucket loader, backhoe, forklift, snow plow) preferred.
• Professional communication and teamwork with campus community and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Operates trash, recycling and compost trucks, loads and transports waste to designated locations.
• Operates forklift, bucket loader and related equipment to load/unload and process materials.
• Operates equipment for summer and winter grounds maintenance.
• Attends hazardous waste training to assist with universal, hazardous and oily waste handling.
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspections and maintains records to stay compliant and safe.
• Inspects and sets up collection containers for routine waste and events.
• Performs other duties including snow removal, event setup/cleanup, loading/unloading and grounds work.
