Solid Waste Recycling Specialist
Collect and haul recyclable materials, refuse, organic material, and surplus property at university locations. Support work to include cleaning and light maintenance of recycle team equipment and snow removal as required, provide furniture/equipment moving services as requested. Promote a workplace that encourages safety within the shop and in the field. May input/retrieve work‑related data using appropriate desktop applications. Operate University vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Valid driver’s license and driver check.
- Ability to operate and safely maneuver large trucks in congested areas.
- Ability to read basic written instructions and complete written route sheets and forms.
- Ability to move or roll heavy containers up to 100 lbs.; ability to lift 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with a co‑worker.
- Successful completion of a physical screening.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing specific job tasks.

Desired Qualifications and Job Conditions
- Pay range: $21.50–$24.00 per hour.
- Probationary period may be required.
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required; overtime may result if the position is non‑exempt.
- This position is ineligible for telework.
- Background check required.
- Post‑offer pre‑employment physical examination required.
- FLSA Non‑Exempt Union position with a minimum hourly rate of $18.50.
