Responsibilities

  • Provide vessel technical and operational support to Vessel Superintendents including coordination of Service Technicians and reporting.
  • Maintain and administer vessel documentation, certificates, plans, manuals, and records in electronic and paper formats.
  • Monitor and manage vessel technical work items (SRs, WOs, NAJs, SJs) and ensure timely closure.
  • Administer vessel property removals and related documentation.
  • Maintain departmental processes, forms, reports, and coordinate updates.
  • Support Vendor Management Program and technical projects across the Liberty Organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Operations Coordinator-Engineering, serves as a key operational resource within the Technical team, providing comprehensive administrative and operational support across all aspects of fleet management. The role is responsible for monitoring vessel activities, maintaining accurate departmental records and documentation, coordinating spare parts procurement / logistics, and supporting warehousing / delivery activities.

Working closely with the Engineering, Purchasing and Operations teams, the Operations Coordinator helps ensure that materials, information, and operational resources are available when needed. The position proactively identifies operational challenges, coordinates solutions, and recommends process improvements that contribute to the safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the company’s managed fleet.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Vessel Technical & Operational Support: Support Vessel Superintendents with day-to-day technical and operational activities, including Service Technician coordination, SPO issuance, bunker sampling, report review, vessel communications, and resolution of technical or operational issues. Provide support during vessel emergencies, drills, and other operational events.
  • Vessel Documentation & Records Management: Maintain and administer vessel technical documentation and records, including certificates, IHM documentation, plans, vendor drawings, instruction manuals, and other electronic and paper records. Manage document uploads, downloads, distribution, historical versions, and retention within designated virtual platforms and company shared drives.
  • Technical Work Order & Request Management: Monitor and maintain vessel technical work items within NSE, including SRs, WOs, NAJs, and SJs. Periodically review outstanding items, coordinate follow-up as necessary, and ensure appropriate closure.
  • Vessel Property & Asset Administration: Manage vessel property removals and maintain associated documentation and records.
  • Departmental Processes & Reporting: Maintain departmental processes, procedures, forms, reports, and related documentation, coordinating revisions and updates as required.
  • Vendor & Project Support: Support the Direct Supervisor with the Vendor Management Program and serve as a knowledgeable operational resource to departments throughout the Liberty Organization in support of assigned technical projects and initiatives.
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education, Training & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation or equivalent experience within the industry.
