Job summary

Legends Global is seeking an Operations Coordinator for the Greater Columbus Convention Center to oversee event setup, stage and floor operations, and staff coordination. The role focuses on supervising setup/tear-down, risers, chairs, and booth areas, while ensuring inventory control and equipment upkeep.

The candidate will support the Manager of Operations with scheduling and discipline, maintain guest-facing professionalism, and ensure safety and efficiency during events at a premier public

• Experience supervising staff in a convention center or similar venue preferred.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Must be able to climb stairs.

THE ROLE Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Operations Coordinator for the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervises set-up/tear-down of meeting rooms.
• Supervises set-up of risers, chairs and stage for events, etc.
• Supervises clean up of convention or trade show floor.
• Supervises booth and floor clean up during event.
• Responsible for stock and equipment inventory.
• Responsible for equipment upkeep and repair.
• Perform basic operational duties as a working supervisor.
• Responsible for hiring steps including interviewing, assistance with new hire.
• Paperwork and shift placement; also responsible for preparing separation documentation and all supporting materials as needed.
• Supervises, assists the Manager of Operations with facility management to include directing, supervising and scheduling all aspects of operations.
• Responsible for administering immediate disciplinary actions including dismissing employees from active duty for department violations/procedures; works directly with operations management and human resources in coordinating disciplinary action in verbal, written and other related disciplinary matters
• Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet - i.e. smiling, saying "Good Day" or offering assistance when needed.
• Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed
• Understands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of "The Magic is in the Details"
• All other necessary duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with energy and enthusiasm.

• Working knowledge of stage, riser and chair set-up for varied events.
• Previous supervisory experience in a convention center atmosphere a plus.
• Able to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights and holidays.
• Assess situations exercising decision-making authority.
• Must be able to climb stairs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• One to two years of custodial/janitorial/meeting set experience in hotels, hospitals, offices, or event requisition conversion experience relative to a commercial facility preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must have ability to become familiar with facility floor plan and acquainted with all sections of the facility.
• Upon training, must possess ability to operate machinery used by department (such as scrubbers, pallet jack, chair carts, trash compactor, cardboard baler, and vacuum cleaners and extractors).
• This position requires the ability to communicate well with all individuals and work as a team player.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Exposure to adverse weather conditions and to various cleaning chemicals. Must have the ability to work flexible/irregular hours. Position requires extensive walking, heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling, equipment operation both indoors and out, and the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
