The Operations Coordinator is responsible for the daily oversight and coordination of university transit programming, including fixed-route services, paratransit services, and on-demand transportation options. This position provides leadership and supervision to intermittent and student transit operators while supporting campus outreach, promotion, and engagement efforts to increase awareness and utilization of transportation services.

The Coordinator also assists with administrative coordination and reporting for transit programming and field-based operations. This includes providing support for after-hours services, special events, fleet services and vehicle detailing functions, and parking field operations as needed to meet evolving operational demands.

Position Responsibilities
  • Supervises daily operations for university transit programming which can include fixed route services, paratransit services, fleet detailing and cleaning, and on-demand transit programming.
  • Monitors service performance, on-time reliability and service quality across assigned service functions.
  • Manages scheduling and staffing plans to ensure adequate service coverage, adjusting service delivery in real time to address disruptions, staffing shortages, or demand fluctuations.
  • Develop service and ridership reports to inform decision making and service planning efforts and track KPI’s such as ridership by route/stop, peak demand periods, and service productivity to identify opportunities for service optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost containment strategies.
  • Responsible for hiring, scheduling, supervision, performance management and development for operations team providing direct oversight to intermittent and student transit operators. Directs the daily operations of assigned staff and ensures resources are available to achieve work plans and resolve complex business needs.
  • Oversees inspection documentation and supports vehicle maintenance and fleet upkeep to ensure operational readiness
  • Supports transit outreach initiatives including tabling events and marketing and rider outreach campaigns to promote service offerings.
  • Responds to customer inquiries, feedback, and service concerns in a timely an professional manner.
  • Assists with implementation and training on new transit technologies and software systems.
  • Assists with departmental projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
  • Assists with administrative coordination and reporting for transit programming and field-based operations. This includes providing support for after-hours services, special events, fleet services and vehicle detailing functions, and parking field operations as needed to meet evolving operational demands.
  • Ensures staff adherence to standard operating procedures and service guidelines and compliance with university, state, university collective bargaining agreement, and federal service requirements. Conducts employee/labor relations matters as necessary in alignment with university policy & contractual requirements and proactively works to diffuse potential conflict before it begins.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for after-hours support/resolution for assigned programs.
  • Displays leadership that results in teamwork, customer focus, innovation and continuous process improvement within their organization. Serves as a liaison for Transportation & Parking Services operations, representing the unit in a professional and customer-centric manner.
  • Assists with documentation of standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, departmental guidelines, professional development and training, and safety/emergency procedures for operations activities & personnel in compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains operational inventories.
Successful Candidate
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an underground storage tank ( UST ) class C Operator Certification within 30 days of employment (training provided).

Position Profile Monitors campus transportation and parking activities and compliance with established policies. Responsible for overseeing permit parking, parking enforcement, event transportation, business transportation, campus transit service, safety and training, and facility and operations maintenance. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports. May represent the team in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Physical Requirements Requires a range of physical activities. Positions may require driving, standing, walking through parking facilities, and/or ascending stairs or ramps. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience. Certain positions may require Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL ).

Preferred Qualifications Department Transportation & Parking Pay Rate The target salary range is $43,888 to $51,377 commensurate with the selected candidate’s education and experience while considering internal equity.
