Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a production ops specialist (Coach) to provide frontline leadership for a team of manufacturing technicians on the night shift in Fort Worth, TX. You will drive process adherence, solve problems, and help meet production schedules while coaching staff and enforcing safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with at least 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and serve as a positive change agent
  • Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn and work as technical expert
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Understanding of LEAN quality mindset
  • EHS, Quality mindset
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, able to address employee issues positively

Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing / technical assistance and leadership to assigned work group
  • Manage production employees and production schedule requirements including timekeeping, overtime, time off and discipline
  • Support and meet production schedules, drive productivity and quality initiatives, and manage the area within budget guidelines
  • Communicate and enforce handbook and plant policies
  • Interface with internal and external customers, define shift priorities
  • Participate in EHS initiatives and corrective actions
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and coach teams; lead high performance work initiatives
  • Train and develop production staff and relate business strategy to metrics
  • You may be asked to perform other duties with proper training

As a member of the Global Operations Equipment group, the production ops specialist (Coach) provides frontline leadership for a team of manufacturing technicians. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, drive process adherence, & develop and execute objectives for self and others. As a frontline leader, you will handle day-to-day activities including such as timekeeping & progressive discipline, & you will provide direction to accomplish operational objectives.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with at least 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment will engage with direct staff on a night shift schedule and you may be asked to work overtime as necessary; due to the supervisory nature of this position, it is not available for remote work.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, quality, sourcing or operations,
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and serve as a positive change agent
  • Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn and work as technical expert
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize aggressive deadlines
  • Understanding of LEAN quality mindset
  • EHS, Quality mindset
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, able to provide feedback and address employee issues in a positive manner
What will your typical day look like?
  • Provide manufacturing / technical assistance and leadership to assigned work group
  • Manage production employees and production schedule requirements to include timekeeping, overtime, time off and discipline
  • Support and meet production schedules, drive productivity (time of product) and quality initiatives, and manage the area within budget guidelines and controls; utilize data analysis to improve safety, decrease quality defects, and increase productivity
  • Communicate and enforce handbook and other plant policies
  • Interface with internal and external customers, define priorities for shift and work group leveraging morning production meetings (and shift change meetings, as needed)
  • Actively participate in Environment, Health and Safety initiatives and corrective actions
  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams and demonstrate necessary leadership and coaching; facilitate operational star point projects and ensure High Performance Work Team objectives
  • Help train and develop skills of production employees; educate production employees on business strategy and metrics

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $62100-85300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
