Job summary

Yuzu Health in New York is seeking an entry-level candidate to join our team at the intersection of healthcare, technology and payments. You will help build processes for collecting and paying invoices, and design reports to support operations.

You will collaborate with internal teams and partners to refine product features and enforce processes, with a hands-on role that evolves as automation grows. This position requires in-person work at our West Village NYC office.

Qualifications

• Experience with Excel and other data manipulation tools.
• Aptitude for explaining numbers and understanding complex payment structures.

• Healthcare or insurance industry experience is a plus but not required.

So how does this actually work? Over 70% of employer-sponsored health plans are self-funded, meaning the employer acts as the insurer and directly covers employees' healthcare costs. This allows companies to customize benefits, gain flexibility, and save money. Self-funded employers partner with a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) to handle the behind-the-scenes plan administration, like processing claims and managing benefits.

Role

• This role is for people who want to begin their career working at the intersection of revolutionizing healthcare, technology and payments.
• You will work to build processes around collecting and paying invoices, designing internal and external reports and ensuring that money is available to pay claims.
• You will talk to internal stakeholders to help design, debug, and refine product features.
• You will talk to partners to communicate and enforce processes.
• Your job will change as we automate repetitive tasks and grow our business.
• In-person 5 days a week in West Village NYC office.

Qualifications

• You have to like challenges. This is hard. Oscar Health had 200 employees before they had real customers on their insurance plans. Collective Health had 40. Yuzu had 5.
• You have to be an ethical and compassionate person.
• Experience with Excel and other similar data manipulation tools.
• Aptitude for explaining numbers to people and understanding complex payment structures.
• You have to want to win.
• You have to care about the team.
• Experience in the healthcare or insurance industries is a plus, but not required. Drive and willingness to learn matter more.
• Open to entry-level applicants.

Process

• Initial 30-45 minute conversation with someone on the team
• A 2 hour take-home assignment designed to be similar to on-the-job work
• An onsite interview
• We may speak with 1-2 references you provide

Salary range: $95-$110k depending on experience and preferred equity versus cash compensation.
