Job summary

1-800-Flowers.com is seeking an Operations team member in New York to support daily facility operations, process orders, and meet deadlines. This role requires strong organization, multitasking, basic computer skills, and clear communication with the Telecenter, drivers, and leadership.

You will communicate with drivers to ensure on-time deliveries, confirm DLCs before 7 PM, and assist routing in the manager’s absence. Additional duties include inventory and floral design support as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
• Good mathematical skills.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Bilingual ability is a plus, but not required.
• Floral or florist experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Process daily orders and ensure all required deadlines are met.
• Oversee the Operations area to ensure orders are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Answer incoming phone calls and respond to or route requests appropriately.
• Communicate clearly with the Telecenter regarding orders and operational needs.
• Communicate with drivers throughout the day to help ensure deliveries are completed on time.
• Monitor and ensure all required DLC confirmations are completed before 7:00 PM.
• Assist with routing deliveries to drivers in the absence of the Manager.
• Complete required daily reports for the Manager.
• Make operational decisions as needed to ensure orders are processed and delivered within company standards.
• Assist in other areas of the facility as needed, including Inventory and Floral Design.
• Maintain flexibility to support changing operational needs.

Job description

The Operations team member is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the facility by processing orders and ensuring all required deadlines are met. This role requires strong organizational and multitasking skills, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the Telecenter, drivers, and facility leadership.

Throughout the day, this position communicates with drivers to help ensure deliveries are completed on time and all required DLC confirmations are completed before 7:00 PM. In the absence of the Manager, the Operations team member may also assist with routing deliveries to drivers.

This position oversees the Operations area to help ensure orders are processed accurately and in a timely manner and must be comfortable making decisions necessary to ensure orders are processed and delivered according to company standards.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to stand and remain on feet for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
• Ability to work in both hot and cold temperatures for extended periods
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, continuously changing environment
• Closed-toe footwear must be worn at all times in accordance with facility safety requirements

The expected salary range for this position is $18.00 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and other factors permitted by law.
