Job summary

MEAG Power in Atlanta, GA is seeking an Operations and Maintenance Coordinator on-site with a pathway to remote work one day per week after three months. The role oversees transmission O&M activities, contractor oversight, outage scheduling, and regulatory compliance to ensure reliable system operations.

You will coordinate field and administrative O&M tasks, maintain critical databases, assist in budget development, and produce management reports.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance on substations and transmission lines, ensuring progress and timely material expediting.
  • Manage response to maintenance concerns by issuing MARs and informing Participants and contractors.
  • Schedule outages and submit work clearances with system operator on behalf of Participants and contractors.
  • Review maintenance reports to confirm testing against specifications and store reports properly.
  • Assist in creating Work Orders and Purchase Orders and route for approvals.
  • Close MARs/WO and maintain updated databases of maintenance activities.
  • Maintain MMS system to schedule preventive maintenance and coordinate with system operator.
  • Communicate with Participants and contractors to troubleshoot problems and coordinate solutions.
  • Serve as point of contact for Participants, contractors, and transmission operators.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to systems, processes, and policies.

Position Title: Operations and Maintenance Coordinator

Department:Transmission - Operations & Maintenance

Reports to: Supervisor, Transmission Operations and Maintenance

Location: Atlanta, GA (*On-site)

* During the first three (3) months of employment the incumbent will be required to work five (5) days a week onsite in the office, however thereafter they will be given the opportunity to work remotely one (1) day per week with manager approval

Summary:

Under limited supervision, has functional responsibility for the supervision, planning, coordination, and contract administration of MEAG Power transmission facility maintenance. Advises test engineers, contractors, inspectors, Participants, and other utilities of system operations and issues. Resolves maintenance concerns, ensures material availability, and maintains critical transmission equipment databases. Supports operational reliability, financial accuracy, and regulatory compliance by coordinating both field and administrative O&M activities.

Scope of Responsibility:

Responsible for coordinating and supporting all transmission Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities, including contractor oversight, outage scheduling, compliance reporting, database management, billing/invoice review, and budget support. Shares responsibility with team members to ensure coverage of essential O&M functions.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Supervises and directs contractors performing corrective and preventive maintenance on substations and transmission lines — verifying progress, communicating status, and expediting materials as needed to complete the maintenance work.
  • Manages MEAG Power’s response to maintenance concerns by identifying solutions and issuing Maintenance Authorization Requests (MARs) to the appropriate contractors, keeping Participants and contractors informed on work status. Audits open MARs monthly to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Coordinates and schedules outages, including submitting work clearances to the system operator on behalf of Participants and contractors.
  • Reviews maintenance reports to confirm equipment is tested to specification, recommends any additional maintenance needed to keep it in excellent condition, and ensures reports are properly stored on MEAG Power’s servers.
  • Assists in the preparation of Work Orders and Purchase Orders as directed, requests approvals if necessary, and sends to appropriate recipients.
  • Closes MARs and Work Orders, keeping tracking and information databases current with completed maintenance and corrective activities.
  • Maintains MEAG Power’s MMS system so preventive maintenance is properly scheduled for all equipment, transmission lines, and rights‑of‑way, and coordinates with the system operator to keep their maintenance database(s) current.
  • Communicates regularly with Participants and contractors — by phone, text, email, and field visits — to troubleshoot problems and coordinate effective solutions.
  • Serves as a point of contact for Participants, contractors, and transmission system operators on day-to-day and emergency transmission operations.
  • Analyzes and recommends improvements to major systems, work processes, practices and policies.
  • Monitors projects to ensure compliance with regulatory and reliability requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards, including PRC-005 (Protection System Maintenance & Testing) and FAC-003 (Vegetation Management), and proactively escalates issues to management.
  • Reviews and verifies invoices for correct coding.
  • Procures material for operations, maintenance, and physical security needs.
  • Verifies MEAG’s SCADA system operates as intended through testing functionality with Low Side contractors.
  • Assists in developing annual budget reports, incorporating O&M and capital costs.
  • Prepares reports, performance indicators, and other analyses to support management decision‑making.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree plus 5-7 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills, with working knowledge of electrical equipment and expertise in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Strong computer and software literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft products and database experience.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, with a cooperative and flexible attitude toward changing priorities.
  • Strong decision-making and escalation judgment, with effective team‑interaction skills.
