HireArt is helping client establish and improve operational safety standards for vehicle operations. The role focuses on developing standards, training teams, and driving corrective actions across engineering and operations.

Ideal candidates bring strong safety, risk management, and compliance knowledge, plus familiarity with autonomous vehicle systems and software development lifecycles. Hybrid work in CA with relocation between Palo Alto and Santa Clara is available.

HireArt is helping our client find detail-oriented and proactive Operational Safety Specialist to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of vehicle operational safety standards.

In this role, you'll work closely with technical and operational teams to establish safety standards, support their implementation, and assess compliance through audits and operational reviews. You'll also identify potential risks, address process gaps, and drive corrective actions to strengthen safety practices across vehicle operations.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of operational safety, risk management, and compliance, along with familiarity with vehicle operations, autonomous or advanced vehicle systems, and software development and testing lifecycles. You're highly organized, analytical, and comfortable collaborating with engineering, operations, quality, legal/compliance, and leadership teams to integrate safety requirements into daily operations and engineering processes.

Work Location:

This is a hybrid role based in Palo Alto, CA, through the end of January. The work location will then move to Santa Clara, CA, with the hybrid schedule remaining in place.

As an Operational Safety Specialist, you'll:

• Develop and implement operational safety standards to support safe and compliant vehicle operations.
• Train technical teams on safety standards and assist in developing standard operating procedures to support consistent implementation.
• Conduct compliance assessments and audits, identify gaps, prepare audit reports, and track corrective actions through resolution.
• Knowledge of operational safety standards, safety management systems, risk assessment, and incident-prevention practices
• Experience developing clear and practical safety standards, operational procedures, controls, and supporting documentation
• Experience planning and conducting compliance audits, reviewing documentation, identifying gaps, preparing audit reports, and tracking corrective actions through closure
• Ability to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies and risks, incorporate lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Strong hazard identification and risk assessment skills, including the ability to prioritize mitigation actions and verify the effectiveness of safety controls
• Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple safety initiatives, establish timelines, monitor adoption, and ensure timely completion of follow-up actions
• Strong documentation, organizational, and analytical skills to ensure procedures and supporting evidence meet established standards

Commitment:

This is a full-time, 12-month contract position staffed via HireArt. It is a hybrid role requiring three days per week onsite and is available to candidates local to the Palo Alto, CA area.
