Job summary

Hatch is hiring a Junior Operational Readiness Specialist to support the Pittsburgh, PA team in preparing for equipment startup and turnover. This in-office role emphasizes collaboration with operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety teams to deliver readiness plans and training programs.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates with engineering backgrounds and a solid GPA, eager to learn in a dynamic industrial setting and willing to travel up to 80% when required.

Qualifications

• Recent or soon-to-be graduates with relevant skills and little or no professional experience.
• Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and maintenance of Operational Readiness plans, schedules, and tracking tools.
• Support readiness assessments and milestone reviews throughout project execution.
• Help identify activities to prepare operations and maintenance teams for equipment startup and turnover.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, project management, training, and safety teams.
• Facilitate meetings, document action items, and track readiness deliverables.
• Support communication between project teams and site personnel regarding upcoming changes.
• Assist with developing and organizing operating and maintenance procedures and startup documentation.
• Support document control activities and ensure readiness documents are accessible.
• Help verify project documentation completion prior to turnover.
• Support training program development and training schedule coordination.
• Track training requirements and completion status.
• Assist in developing job aids, training materials, and competency assessments.
• Participate in readiness reviews, field walkthroughs, and startup planning activities.
• Identify potential operational, maintenance, safety, and reliability risks.
• Track mitigation actions and support closure of gaps.
• Assist in coordinating project turnover activities.
• Support equipment commissioning, startup, and post-startup stabilization.
• Track punch-lists and turnover deliverables.
