Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking a Senior Counsel, Operational Compliance to partner with the Director of Operational Compliance in executing enterprise-wide compliance strategies. You will provide hands-on legal guidance across Safety, Food Safety, Allergen Management, OSHA, Sustainability, Healthcare, Education, and Government Contracting compliance.

You will translate regulatory requirements into practical, business-aligned solutions and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar admission required.
• 5–10 years of experience in regulated, multi-site environments.
• Strong knowledge of FDA/USDA food safety, OSHA, EPA.
• Experience with government contracting requirements (FAR/DFARS, audits).
• Excellent communication to translate legal requirements into guidance.
• Business-minded with collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal counsel on operational compliance matters (FDA/USDA, OSHA, gov't contracting).
• Implement and maintain a unified compliance framework across operations.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on risks.
• Collaborate with food safety, safety, QA, and operations teams on risk actions.
• Support government contracts compliance and audits.
• Draft and update policies, procedures, and training.
• Lead internal audits and compliance reporting.
• Deliver training to promote safety and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with Government Affairs on regulatory strategy.
