Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Patient Support Assistant to perform non-medical duties in support of Surgical Services in Providence, RI.

Responsibilities include transporting patients, preparing supplies, assisting in preoperative scrubs, and helping maintain sterile rooms and equipment. Requires a high school diploma and 1–3 months of on-the-job training. Night shift with weekday and alternating weekend work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to recognize changes in patient's condition and report to nursing personnel.
• Ability to perform simple numerical calculations.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques for cleaning rooms, equipment and materials.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from the surgical suite.
• Assists in surgical room preparation and ensures supplies are available.
• Assists in prepping patients for surgery and positioning.
• Inventory, requisitions, and stocks supplies for Surgical Services.
• Assembles patient record packs of charge slips.
