Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System is seeking a Nursing- Support (Clinical) role in Miami to assist perioperative patients under supervision of nursing leadership. The position covers room cleaning, equipment handling, patient assistance, and transportation within the operating rooms.

Ideal candidates will have a High School education (or higher), BLS certification, and healthcare experience. The role requires strong communication, patient focus, and the ability to handle confidential information

Qualifications

• American Heart Association BLS certification required and active throughout employment.
• High School education preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is desirable.
• Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families and coworkers.
• Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures and equipment per Infection Control Policy.
• Return equipment to storage after use and ensure proper handling.
• Precept new employees and volunteers during orientation and document completion.
• Assist perioperative patients with care and respond to questions respectfully.
• Provide indirect patient care including lifting/positioning under nurse supervision.
• Transport laboratory products, supplies and pharmacy items to support productivity.
• Move patients as directed by the OR core desk and respond to OR requests promptly.
• Follow lab protocols for specimen handling and blood product standards.
• Anticipate patient comfort needs and provide items like blankets and pillows.
• Handle biohazardous waste and exchange containers per policy.
• Stock linens, supplies and containers; complete turnovers within standards.
• Use PPE correctly and maintain safety standards.
