Job summary

The San Francisco Department of Public Health seeks a 2310 Surgical Procedures Technician to assist physicians in the operating room under RN/MD supervision. You will create sterile fields, pass instruments, and help maintain sterility throughout procedures, while supporting patient transfer and room turnover.

Required is a CA AHA- or equivalent credential in surgical technology, plus potential substitution with related training or two years of scrub experience in acute care.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma from a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent.
• Completion of comparable surgical technology training in an accredited community college, the military, or a nursing education program.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain sterile fields; scrub and assist surgeons with instruments.
• Break down sterile fields, dispose of sharps, and prepare rooms for turnover.
• Set up procedures, assist with patient transfer and positioning, and prepare the surgical area as requested.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of supplies and equipment; inspect instruments and replenish supplies.
