Job summary

Northern Virginia Surgery Cent in Virginia is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse with a focus on patient-centered care and collaboration with the surgical team. You will prepare the OR, position patients, document procedures, and ensure sterile technique while supporting both patients and families.

The role requires at least 1 year of OR nursing experience, Virginia RN licensure (or eligibility), BLS certification at start, and ACLS optional with six months of hire.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of progressive experience as a Registered Nurse in the OR.
• Current Virginia RN licensure or eligibility; multi-state license acceptable.
• BLS certification required at start; ACLS optional and can be obtained within six months per ASC location.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Preoperative patient preparation: verify identity, surgical site, and consent; provide emotional support.
• Operate room setup and equipment to ensure smooth workflow.
• Assist with patient positioning and safety during procedures.
• Accurate intraoperative documentation of procedure details and events.
• Serve as liaison between surgical team and other departments; obtain supplies as needed.
• Receive and label specimens; transport for processing.
• Monitor sterile environment and equipment functionality.
• Perform instrument counts with scrubbed team member.
• Prepare sterile field and hand instruments as needed during procedures.
• Assist with post-procedure cleanup and sterilization readiness.
