Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room General Team. The OR operates 24/7 with a diverse case mix and a mentorship-focused, team-based culture.

The position is full-time (40 hours, day shift) with on-call weekends and holidays. New graduates are welcome; requires Iowa RN license, BLS, ACLS within 6 months, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• New grads welcome; OR experience preferred but not required.
• Current Iowa RN license or compact state.
• BLS certification; ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile technique throughout procedures and assists with OR setups.
• Communicates clearly with patients, families and the healthcare team during handoffs.
• Provides safe, evidence-based nursing care and patient education.
• Delegates appropriately and supervises unlicensed staff as needed.
• Maintains accurate, real-time documentation in the chart and OR logs.
