Job Summary and Qualifications

Our Operating Room Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. As an OR Nurse, you will have the opportunity to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. What You Will Do In This Role

  • You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
  • You will organize, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care for surgical services patients.
  • You will assist in and assess Operating Room readiness: table positioning, supplies and supply availability, and equipment readiness
  • You will monitor treatment in the operative environment including practice of aseptic technique and maintenance of sterile fields and correction of breaks in technique for any of the team members
  • You will manage patient safety by implementing operative policy and procedures including patient identification, site verification, positioning and counting of sponges, instruments and sharps

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • ADN degree required. BSN degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years of previous OR experiencerequired.
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse. Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted; Texas State RN license required 30 days after hire.
  • BLS from AHA or ARC
  • Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees.
  • Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to operating room nursing.
  • Clinically proficient in operating room nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
