Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE seeks an Operating Room RN to deliver compassionate perioperative care across the surgical continuum. You will work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the OR team to optimize patient outcomes and maintain safety standards.

You will prepare the OR, administer medications, document care, educate patients and families, and contribute to ongoing professional growth within a not-for-profit health system that supports learning and community service.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the applicable state (e.g., DE).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS certification preferred or obtained after hire.
• CNOR perioperative certification preferred.
• Operating room/perioperative training or residency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR team for outcomes.
• Prepare operating room, equipment, and instruments per standards.
• Assess patients, verify consents, and execute care plans.
• Administer meds, monitor vitals, respond to changes.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support safety initiatives.
• Educate patients and families on perioperative care and expectations.
• Participate in ongoing learning, competency validation, and QA projects.
• Support orientation and mentorship of new staff and students.

In this role, you’ll deliver compassionate, evidence-based perioperative care across the surgical continuum, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary OR team. You’ll assess patients, prepare the OR, ensure strict safety and infection control, and advocate for patients and families.
