Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan seeks an Operating Room Manager to supervise daily clinical management for the assigned shift, under the Chief Nursing Officer. This role ensures quality patient care within policies and standards, while coordinating staffing and resources for the unit.

The position requires an active Michigan RN license, at least one year of unit-specific clinical experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Master’s preferred).

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the State of Michigan.
• At least one year of clinical experience in unit specialty.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or must be obtained within three (5) years of hire or transfer. Hired or transferred on or after January 1, 2024, must obtain within three (3) years of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality services through consistent application of policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care.
• Clinical resources and support for staff.
• Identifies problems related to the functioning of the unit, recommends solutions, and takes corrective action to resolve them.
• Coordinates patient placement in and out of unit.
• Creates and maintains a work environment conducive to effective communication, team building and professionalism.
• Assesses and arranges staffing for unit.
• Provides input into hiring, termination, discipline, assignment, and evaluation of work for employees.
• Monitors and assures availability of unit supplies.
• Communicates with staff, management, physicians, and other units regarding patient and quality care issues.
• Participates in orientation of new employees.
