Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center – Southwest is seeking an experienced, part-time Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our team. The role focuses on safe, efficient surgical care with strong clinical skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced OR setting.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited nursing program graduate, a Texas RN license (or compact), and at least 1 year of OR nursing experience, with BLS and ACLS; CNOR is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Texas RN license (or compact).
  • Minimum 1 year of OR nursing experience; 3 years preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred.
  • CNOR certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are available and functioning.
  • Assess patients before surgery, verify consents, and address any immediate concerns.
  • Serve as a circulating nurse during procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and patient safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Monitor patient status intraoperatively and respond promptly to changes.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Follow AORN standards and facility policies consistently.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement and performance initiatives.
  • Maintain current certifications and complete annual competencies.
