Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Southwest is seeking a Pre-Op Registered Nurse to prepare patients for surgery, ensuring safety, comfort, and education throughout the preoperative process in a patient-centered setting.

The role involves comprehensive preoperative assessments, IV initiation, medication administration, and collaboration with physicians and anesthesia providers to ensure safe and timely preparation for procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications (PALS if required).
• Minimum 2 years in PACU, PreOp, ICU, or Critical Care.
• Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or outpatient environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including reviewing medical history, medications, and allergies.
• Monitor and document vital signs and patient condition prior to surgery.
• Prepare patients for surgery by initiating IVs, administering medications as ordered, and ensuring adherence to preoperative protocols.
• Provide patient and family education regarding the surgical process and postoperative expectations.
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure accurate and timely preparation.
• Respond promptly to any preoperative complications and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all regulatory and safety standards.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and staff.

Pre-Op Registered Nurse

The Pre-Op Registered Nurse is responsible for preparing patients for surgery, ensuring their safety, comfort, and understanding throughout the preoperative process.
