Job summary

SRMC Summersville Regional Medical Center is seeking an Environmental Services Associate to maintain clean and orderly patient areas. The role requires cleaning rooms, public spaces, and equipment, with a focus on safety and sanitation.

Responsibilities include bed making for discharged rooms, trash removal, and supply replenishment. Candidates should be able to read work orders, operate cleaning equipment, and work in a hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and cleans assigned areas, reports problems to supervisor.

• Makes beds in discharge and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Maintains equipment and moves furniture and wash walls as needed.
• Follows all safety and sanitation regulations.

Job description

Performs a variety of environmental services to maintain assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• High school diploma or equivalent

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspects and ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair; report problems to the supervisor.
• Cleans all assigned areas, including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
• Removes trash from all assigned areas.
• Replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
• Makes beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Maintains assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Moves equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
• Follows all safety and sanitation regulations.

For Facilities With Specialty Accreditation Requirements

• Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching and bending and operating floor equipment such as vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, buffers, etc.
• Must meet Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
• Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for an extended period of time

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and different types of cleaning chemicals.

• Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
• Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment
• Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
