Job summary

SRMC Summersville Regional Medical Center in Summersville, WV is seeking an Environmental Services worker to clean patient rooms, offices and common areas while following established procedures and safety rules. You will report maintenance issues, replenish supplies, and assist with basic cleaning tasks as part of a dedicated hospital team.

This full-time, non-exempt role requires a high school diploma, physical stamina for cleaning tasks, and ability to wear PPE.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be physically able to perform cleaning tasks.
• Capable of wearing PPE for an extended period.
• Ability to follow established procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and ensures areas are cleaned and in good repair; report problems to supervisor.
• Cleans assigned areas including patient rooms, offices, and restrooms following procedures.
• Removes trash and replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
• Makes beds in discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Maintains equipment and reports issues.
• Follows safety and sanitation regulations.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspects and ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair; report problems to the supervisor.
• Cleans all assigned areas, including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
• Removes trash from all assigned areas.
• Replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
• Makes beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Maintains assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Moves equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
• Follows all safety and sanitation regulations.

For Facilities With Specialty Accreditation Requirements

• Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.

Physical Requirements

• Must have physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching and bending and operating floor equipment such as vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, buffers, etc.
• Must meet Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
• Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for an extended period of time

Working Environment

• Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and different types of cleaning chemicals.

• Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
• Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment
• Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
