Job summary

HARR Harrison Community Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Associate to maintain clean and orderly patient areas, offices, and common spaces. You will follow established cleaning procedures, report repairs, and stock supplies according to hospital standards.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma, ability to perform physical cleaning tasks, wear PPE, and comply with safety regulations. A stable schedule and teamwork with the facilities staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform cleaning tasks with PPE.
• Must meet Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
• Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for an extended period of time.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and ensures that assigned areas are cleaned and in good repair; report issues to supervisor.
• Cleans all assigned areas including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices and equipment following established procedures.
• Removes trash from all assigned areas.
• Replaces paper towels, toilet paper and soap to maintain supply.
• Makes beds following cleaning procedures in discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Maintains equipment in clean, working condition and reports problems; moves equipment and furniture as assigned.
• Follows all safety and sanitation regulations.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE

• High school diploma or equivalent

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspects and ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair; report problems to the supervisor.
• Cleans all assigned areas, including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
• Removes trash from all assigned areas.
• Replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
• Makes beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Maintains assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Moves equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
• Follows all safety and sanitation regulations.

For Facilities With Specialty Accreditation Requirements

• Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must have physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching and bending and operating floor equipment such as vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, buffers, etc.
• Must meet Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
• Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for an extended period of time

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and different types of cleaning chemicals.

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
• Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment
• Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
