Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is seeking a full-time Equipment Coordinator for the Operating Room at McCandless. The role supports day shifts, with on-site work and no weekends.

You will assist with care, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical equipment, coordinate schedules, and ensure trays and instruments are ready for cases. You’ll track shared resources and report malfunctions to maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Surgical related experience preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification required or ability to obtain.
• Act 34 with renewal required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with care, cleaning, and maintenance of all specialty equipment, including lasers, video towers, microscopes, positioning supplies.
• Assist specialty nurses with the set-up and ordering of instrument trays.
• Check daily with SPD for broken instruments and incomplete trays.
• Coordinate following days schedule for equipment utilization and provides necessary equipment to the appropriate rooms.
• Track shared resources/equipment between OR/ASC.
• Maintain special order supplies and put away orders when they arrive.
• Assist with orthopedic inventory.
• Report equipment malfunctions to Maintenance or Biomedical Engineering.
• Assist in care/cleaning/processing/retrieval and return of minimally invasive instruments between cases.
