Job summary

Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK is hiring an Operating Room Assistant II. This full-time role (1.0 FTE) supports OR nursing staff, maintains a safe and clean environment, handles equipment, transports patients, and performs routine equipment maintenance under supervision.

The candidate will assist with patient care in the Operating Room under the guidance of a Registered Nurse and the Lead OR Assistant, contributing to efficient, high-quality perioperative services.

Qualifications

• BLS certification (American Heart Association) upon hire.
• 1 year external OR Assistant experience or 6 months internal OR Assistant I with competency program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, hazard-free, clean environment that supports patient-focused care in the OR.
• Handle equipment and supplies; transport patients.
• Clean and decontaminate Operating Rooms and equipment.
• Operate and perform routine maintenance on OR equipment.
• Assist with patient care in the OR under supervision of a Registered Nurse and Lead OR Assistant.

Position Overview

Operating Room Assistant II at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.

Full Time, 1.0 FTE, Day Shift, 40 hours per week.

Under supervision, the Operating Room Assistant provides general support to Nursing staff in the Operating Room. Activities focus on maintaining a safe, hazard‑free, clean environment that facilitates patient‑focused care. OR Assistants handle equipment and supplies, clean and decontaminate Operating Rooms and equipment, transport patients, and operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of technical equipment used in the operating room. Assists with providing patient care in the Operating Room under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and the Lead OR Assist.

Required Qualifications

• Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association.
• 6 months internal OR Assistant I candidates: Operating Room Assistant experience with completion of Operating Room Assistant competency program.
• 1 year external candidates: Experience as Operating Room Assistant or equivalent in a hospital‑based operating room.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
