Job summary

UCLA Health in Los Angeles is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to perform patient moving and transport, manage blood products and specimens, ensure room readiness, restock supplies, and support anesthesia materials. The role requires strong teamwork and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced OR environment.

The incumbent will work under supervision of the Clinical Support Manager and Supervisors, with rotating weekends/holidays as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to meet physical requirements: lift, carry, push or pull 50lbs constantly (80-90% of the time).
• Dexterity to operate medical equipment.
• Strong communication skills to follow directions.
• Ability to work with a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
• Awareness of potential exposure to hazardous materials.
• Knowledge of disinfectants, germicide, and sterilant.
• Knowledge of infection control, AORN, and AAMI standards related to job functions.
• Knowledge of government regulations: JCAHO, OSHA, Waste Management.
• Hospital Operating Room experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties as an Operating Room Assistant: patient moving and transport, handling blood products, specimens, and equipment transport.
• Ensure equipment maintenance and room readiness; restock supplies and clean/stock rooms.
• Assist with handling anesthesia support materials as required.
• Provide customer service and contribute to departmental efficiencies.
