Job summary

H Mart is seeking an OPEX accountant to manage day-to-day operating expenses and capital expenditures. You will process invoices in SAP, prepare payment batches, reconcile expenses, and analyze cost trends to optimize operating costs.

The role requires 1–3 years of accounting experience, a BA/BS in accounting or related field, and strong Excel skills. On-site work in Illinois with a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in an applicable field is required.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Review and process invoices from departments and enter data in SAP.
• Prepare operational expenditure payment batches.
• Verify expense reports for compliance with GAAP and policies.
• Reconcile operational expense accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Manage prepaid and accrued expenses; track depreciation schedules.
• Oversee fixed assets and related depreciation.
• Monitor and reconcile operational inventory; perform closings.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements for operation costs.
• Analyze spending trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Job description

An OPEX accountant handles the financial aspects of day-to-day operational expenses and capital expenditures within the company. Primary responsibilities include managing and analyzing business expenses, ensuring accurate recording in financial statements, delivering reports to relevant departments, and providing insights to optimize operational costs

Job Duties

• Review and process invoices and related cover sheets from various departments and input all data in accounting system (SAP R3)
• Preparing operational expenditure payment batch
• Reviewing and verifying expense reports for various departments to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies
• Reconciling operational expense accounts to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies
• Managing prepaid expense, accrued expense and accrued account schedule
• Managing and tracking corporate fixed asset with depreciation schedule
• Managing, monitoring and reconciling operational support inventory
• Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing
• Preparing and analyzing financial statements related to operation expenses, including
• balance sheets and income statements
• Analyze spending trends and variances to identify areas for cost reduction or improvement
• Other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in the US.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business-related field (Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred). Equivalent experience and a strong knowledge of accounting principles may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 1–3 years of experience in an applicable field is required. H Mart provides an extensive

• General understanding of accounting processes and functions.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems is a plus (SAP R/3 or S/4HANA Cloud preferred).
• Bilingual in Korean and English preferred
