Job summary

The State of Louisiana is seeking an Operating Engineer Master or Foreman for DOTD to ensure safe, comfortable, and efficient facility operations. You will operate and maintain boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and power generation equipment while handling repairs and leading maintenance teams.

You will work both independently and with others to keep critical systems reliable. The role combines hands-on mechanical work with leadership, preventative maintenance, and coordination with contractors

Qualifications

• Four years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates, monitors, and maintains boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, generators, HVAC systems, and other central plant equipment to ensure reliable facility operations.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems, performs emergency repairs, and uses computerized energy management systems to monitor and control building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Coordinates and oversees preventative maintenance, inspections, daily equipment logs, repairs, contractors, and inventory of parts, chemicals, and supplies.
• Directs, trains, and evaluates operating engineers and other employees, assigns work, inspects completed work, and provides assistance during emergencies or disaster‑related operations.
