Job summary

JLL is seeking an Operating Engineer in St. Louis to manage the comprehensive operation, maintenance, and repair of critical facility equipment and systems.

You will apply specialized craft skills while maintaining multi-skilled capabilities across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and central utility plant operations. You will ensure building systems operate at peak performance with safety and quality standards, supporting JLL’s commitment to exceptional facility management and client service.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in at least one craft area: Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations.
• Multi-skilled across building systems and equipment types.
• Experience with facility services, preventative maintenance, and inventory control processes.
• Knowledge of safety protocols for hazardous material storage, usage, and disposal.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems.
• Understanding of quality control processes and vendor management.
• Capability to work independently and complete daily/weekly work assignments effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to maintain facility standards.
• Execute preventative maintenance programs including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to optimize HVAC systems and associated equipment performance.
• Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of all facility systems.
• Review monthly client service summaries to identify and resolve recurrent operational problems.
• Monitor and evaluate vendor and supplier performance regarding quality standards and competitive pricing.
• Verify accuracy of deliveries including count, pricing, and product descriptions.
• Conduct periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory to ensure operational readiness.

What this job involve

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Experience with purchasing processes and cost management for maintenance operations
