Job summary

Centerpoint Medical Center is seeking an Operating Engineer to maintain and operate hospital building systems, ensuring safety and service excellence for patients and staff. You will work within Facilities Management, performing routine maintenance and repairs across plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and life safety systems.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and experience in hospital or commercial settings, with strong skills in hand and power tools and a mechanical aptitude that supports

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Hospital/Commercial experience preferred.
• Skill in the use of hand and power tools used in installations, repair and maintenance of equipment, buildings and grounds.
• Five or more years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and light repairs in plumbing, medical gas, doors and hardware, electrical, nurse call and HVAC systems.
• Operate building automation systems.
• Ensure operation of fixed plant equipment by daily checks and recording status.
• Respond to building system casualties and fire alarms and restore services.
• Install and/or change out appliances and wall hangings.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on building systems.
• Assist in controlling and maintaining materials inventory.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Operating Engineer performs skilled work on building systems throughout the hospital. As a member of the Facilities Management team, you will have important contact with patients, visitors and clinical staff every day. Your mechanical aptitude and knowledge of facility and plant operations are an opportunity to be a part of something bigger. What you will do in this role

• You will perform routine maintenance and light repairs in areas including plumbing, medical gas, doors and hardware, electrical, nurse call and HVAC systems.
• You will operate building automation systems.
• You will ensure the operation of fixed plant equipment by performing daily building and equipment checks and recording status of equipment.
• You will respond to building system casualties and fire alarms and take immediate action to restore services.
• You will install and/or change out appliances and wall hangings.
• You are responsible for scheduled preventative maintenance on building systems.
• You will assist in controlling and maintaining the materials inventory.
