Job summary

RPC Company is seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to support daily operation and maintenance of a premier commercial property in the Dallas Uptown area. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and a commitment to safe, reliable building operations.

You will work onsite, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with property management and tenants. A high school diploma or GED is required, with licenses in electrical, HVAC, or related fields preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related commercial building/facilities engineering experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Electrical, HVAC, mechanical licenses/certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial building systems.
• Operate and maintain HVAC/mechanical systems, DDC and pneumatic controls, plumbing, electrical systems, and life-safety systems.
• Perform general building repairs including lighting, doors/hardware, ceilings, flooring, roofing, garages.
• Support tenant improvements, capital projects, inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency response.
• Respond professionally to tenant requests and coordinate with property management.
• Participate in on-call rotations and occasional overtime.

This is a direct-hire opportunity for a hands-on building engineer with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude who takes pride in maintaining safe, reliable, high-quality building operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial building systems.
• Work with HVAC/mechanical systems, DDC and pneumatic controls, plumbing, electrical systems, access controls, and fire/life-safety systems.
• Perform general building repairs including lighting, doors/hardware, ceilings, flooring, roofing, garages, and related areas.
• Support tenant improvement and capital projects, inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency response.
• Respond professionally to tenant/customer service requests and communicate effectively with property management and other teams.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related commercial building/facilities engineering experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Electrical, HVAC, mechanical, stationary engineer, SMA/SMT, or related licenses/certifications are preferred.
• General computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to lift/move 50–100 lbs. and perform the physical requirements associated with building maintenance.
• Reliable transportation and ability to respond to emergency/on-call situations.
