Job summary

Central City Opera seeks an Associate Director of Education & Community Engagement to plan, coordinate, and manage outreach activities for its education programs, including schools, workshops, residencies, virtual programs, and tour bookings. You will lead contracted workers, volunteers, and touring artists while ensuring materials, equipment, and logistics are well-organized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music, education, performing arts, arts administration, or related discipline.
• Knowledge of the history, repertoire and performance practices of the Opera genre strongly preferred.
• Vocal, theater, or educational performance experience a plus; video audition submissions welcome.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Education in planning, coordinating, and managing all educational and community engagement activities.
• Oversee on-site completion of all Education programs; lead contract workers, hourly workers, and volunteers.
• Complete monthly reports including attendance, demographics, budgets, surveys, and archival methods.
• Manage Touring and Teaching Artists and maintain PR/marketing collateral files annually.
• Lead teaching and touring artist activities including vocal performance when required.
• Coordinate production calendar and artist availability by program.
• Ensure artist qualifications, trainings, and youth clearance; arrange travel and housing for tours.
• Collaborate on outreach, sales, marketing, and school partnerships.
• Develop resource guides for teachers, students, patrons, and community use.
• Lead virtual programs and workshops as needed.
• Foster inclusive collaboration and explore opportunities for revenue diversification.
